Spring Newsletter 2026
Well, it appears that Spring has finally sprung. Here’s hoping for a gentle and pleasant Spring , Summer and Fall. Since our Fall Newsletter there is great news from the AXP® Museum Board on several fronts.
Let’s start with the work that the Friends of the Museum (FOM) have accomplished. My words will not do it justice!! You have to visit the museum to appreciate what the FOM Band of Brothers and Sisters led by Doug & Gail Targett, Judy Harrison, Patty & Don Clark, Dave Clark, and of course, Kristina Balside have done. From placing wheels on display cabinets to facilitating cleaning, repairs and display options, to organizing the storage room, to placing shelves in the outside storage building which among other things provides space to store appropriate items from the museum, to placing a simple but effective alarm system to alert staff when someone enters our building and more!!! In fact, there is much more that is required. Imagine what can be accomplished if we had a few more FOM folks dedicate a few hours a week or month. Please consider helping!
Next Kristina has updated our Museum trifold pamphlet for wide-scale distribution. But more is to come including adding QR codes so you can access the campus walking tour information and the video that we show to visitors. She and Ron are making rounds to other museums in order to gain more visibility throughout Greene County and beyond.
Fall Newsletter
As most of you know, this Summer we transitioned to the new management structure of our organization. This change is in recognition of: 1) the need to secure our Home’s legacy for the future; and 2) to maintain the traditional activities/events that we enjoy as long as we have Ex-Pupils willing and capable of running them.
To ensure that we comply with both the State and Federal requirements, we have taken steps to protect our 501(c)3 designation and our Articles of Incorporation. As you see on the cover of this newsletter, we have accomplished that. As with any new organizational change there will be some growing pains. You can rest assured that we will work together to keep the distractions and miscommunications to a minimum.
The newsletters, along with our official social sites, will be our preferred methods of getting the ‘right’ Word out to you. Let’s not let the RUMOR MILL be the instrument that poisons the truth. What you’ll see included in this newsletter are the leaders of our new organization. If you have questions, concerns, ideas, etc., please do not hesitate to contact them.
